EMMA JUNE JONES

Emma June Jones (b. 2000, Chicago, IL) is a painter living and working in New York, NY. She received her BFA in Illustration with a minor in Art History from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2023. Jones’s work explores the psychological terrain of contemporary womanhood through distorted, dreamlike figures rendered in oil. Her paintings fold bodies into compressed spaces, weaving together elements of fashion, environment, and symbolism to reflect the complexities of identity, autonomy, and societal pressure.

Her process begins in the pages of her sketchbook—an evolving archive of personal narratives, observations, and fleeting impulses. These studies, raw and immediate, form the foundation of her compositions, allowing emotion to dictate form. Color, in particular, serves as a central force in her practice, shifting between heightened intensity and subdued softness to evoke memory, tension, and nostalgia.

Since moving to New York, Jones’s work has undergone a transformation, embracing a heightened sense of playfulness and vibrancy. The city, with its constant motion and charged energy, has profoundly shaped her visual language, pushing her to lean into spontaneity and embrace the fluidity of her evolving perspective.
